The Side Braid

I love braids! French, beachy, loose…you name it. They’re such a versatile hair style that it can go with almost any outfit. This tight side braid I especially  love because of the sleek fresh look it gives. I paired this side braid with a silver/gold loosely woven top and some dark skinny jeans – the hair really completed the look. 🙂

To achieve this look:

  1. With both hands, comb or brush your hair to one side of your head. Extra attention at the top; be sure to start more to one side of your part as your brush over the top.
  2. Wet your hair with some warm water and apply about ½ a teaspoon of coconut oil to lubricate and moisturize your strands – this will not only moisturize your hair but also help to hold things together more naturally. (optional: you can use a golf ball–size amount of mousse instead of water and oil, for a more firmer hold that lasts longer; apply it to dry hair).
  3. Gather strands under one ear.
  4. Braid tightly.
  5. Then secure with an elastic.
