Full of so many health benefits, cherries aren’t only pretty and sweet, they help protect and reverse the aging process as well as help fight diseases!
I love enjoying mine frozen or fresh. However as a dessert I eat them frozen – just as they start to thaw and get semi-soft. Makes me feel like I’m having a similar version to frozen yogurt or sorbet. 😌
- Sleep Aid: Do you have trouble counting sheep at night? Cherries contain melatonin which helps the body get into sleep mode and actually fall asleep.
- Blood pressure: Cherries are an excellent source of potassium, and can help lower cholesterol by increasing the potassium level and reducing the amount of sodium in the body. One cup of cherries has as much potassium as a banana.
- Cancer Fighting: Cherries contain flavonoids (an antioxidant) which help fight cancer by keeping cancerous cells from growing out of control.
- Ease Arthritis: For does who suffer from arthritis and gout Will definitely benefit from adding cherries to their diet as they help reduce painful inflammation. A USDA study found that uric acid (does the main culprit of gout) can be reduced by 15% just by eating 2 cups of Bing cherries.
Super versatile and can be added to so many different dishes… Cherries are definitely one of my top go to use for a healthy sweet snack!!
“Darker the berry the sweeter the juice.” This in fact is true – however let’s say, the darker the cherry the more health benefits they carry! Haha so if you can, reach for the dark purple over the bright reds!
